Whys and Other Whys is a 1927 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.
Plot[]
Felix, returning from a long night among the wild night owls, is greeted by his wife with the question: WHY are you so late? He explains, offering a story about a fur coat, which he claims to have bought for his wife. As Felix tells it, the coat turned out to be a bear, and in fighting it, he was late.
Asked why his legs are wobbly, Felix says he got them while defending a box of sweets, also a gift for his dear wife. The cat explains that the thief who robbed him was so disappointed with his loot that he threw him into the sea. It was a stormy sea, hence his wobbly legs.
The wife admits that this is all quite exciting, but finds a strand of blond hair on his shoulder and wants to know about it. Felix is hard-pressed to give an adequate explanation for this, but finally tells the story of a grueling encounter with a greedy lion, which Felix subsequently defeated.
As the wife beats Felix, she asks why he is such a terrible liar.
An extremely funny parody of one of the most well-known foibles of married life, done with the usual fine animation.
