One Good Turn is a 1929 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.
Plot[]
The story begins when Felix, seeking a moment of peace to sleep, is interrupted by his owner, who mistakes him for a wind-up clock. The owner, in his ignorance, twists Felix's tail, believing he is winding the "clock", and throws the real clock outside the house.
Upon realizing the mistake, the owner laughs at the situation, but decides to leave Felix outside. Determined to return to the comfort of his home, Felix embarks on a series of creative attempts to open the door. First, he tries using a flute to "unlock" the door, but to no avail. Next, he uses his whiskers as violin strings, hoping to produce a magical melody that will open the lock. Finally, a high-pitched meow from Felix rings out, and to his surprise, the door opens.
Felix, now inside the house, heads to the refrigerator, where he finds a supply of hot dogs. However, the hot dogs come to life and start barking, scaring Felix and throwing him out of the kitchen. The cat, irritated by the situation, goes out into the yard and tries to get his owner's attention, but his attempts only irritate the man. In a fit of rage, the owner grabs a bow and arrow and a sack, and throws Felix into the forest. At dawn, a bear finds the sack where Felix is trapped and starts boxing him. Felix, determined to defend himself, retaliates the bear's blows, starting a frantic chase.
During the escape, Felix meets a fox, and the two quickly become friends. The fox, cunning, switches the sack where Felix is for a honeycomb, luring the bear away. Felix and the fox celebrate their friendship with beers and a warm farewell, complete with a kiss on the fox's face.
While walking through the forest, Felix hears the sound of a horn and the barking of dogs, indicating the beginning of fox hunting season. Concerned for the safety of his new friend, Felix steals a horse from a carousel, offering hay as payment, and rushes to warn the fox. Felix finds the fox and hides it in a hole, devising a plan to lose the hunters. He uses fox tracks to create a trail that leads to a tree, where a giant bird picks up the hunter and his dogs, carrying them away. The short ends with Felix and the fox laughing happily, celebrating their friendship and the cleverness that saved them from danger.
