Felix Tries for Treasure is a 1923 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.
Plot[]
Felix and his friend little Sammy Johnsin are playing baseball when they discover a map that leads to the undersea treasure of Lizzie the Pirate Queen. Building their own submarine, they slip beneath the waves in search of the treasure, and meet up with a variety of undersea creatures, including the most dangerous of all--the loan shark.
Trivia[]
- The character of the black boy named "Sammy Johnsin" in the above synopsis is a look-alike of "Sambo" from the McClure syndicate comic strip "Sambo And His Funny Noises," which ran from 1905 to 1915. He was drawn by William F. Marriner, but his assistant and ghostwriter for years was Pat Sullivan, who even took over for a year after Marriner's death.
