Felix The Cat Wiki

Felix Behind in Front is a 1927 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.

Plot[]

Felix is a contented cat because his farmer gives him plenty of food. Just when he thinks he will be spoiled for life, the farmer leaves for the army. Felix stays behind, but when he can no longer bear the lonely life, he leaves to join his master, now a soldier. The black cat figures that if his master is killed, he will never be fed again, so it is up to him to make sure the farmer survives the war in good shape.

Felix finds his master lagging behind, exhausted by his heavy backpack. The cat does his part by carrying his boss and the backpack on his own back. Felix anxiously awaits the curfew for dinner, and then finds that he cannot sneak up on the front of the line. Disgusted, he goes to a nearby café. After interrupting an affair between his farmer friend and a French maid, Felix and the farmer head to the front and into the artillery fire.

Felix, the farmer, and several companions are trapped in a bomb crater and without food. Felix proves himself a hero by crawling into no man's land and grabbing some provisions. The cat finds some sausages in the supply basket and uses them in a machine gun to repel a German attack. Then, both Felix and the farmer are sent home on leave as a reward for their bravery.
