Barn Yarns is a 1927 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.
Plot[]
Felix, out foraging for food, is persuaded to abandon his raid on a diner's delicacies when he is sprinkled with pepper. Still hungry and disgusted by this harsh treatment, Felix selects a passing duck as the next candidate for gustatory honors. The pursuit of his prey leads Felix to the edge of a lake where the black cat unsuccessfully attempts to swim. The duck wants to let his enemy sink, but his conscience bothers him and he returns to save Felix from a watery death. In return, he earns the cat's lasting friendship.
Meanwhile, a farmer, planning his own dinner, sets out to kill Felix's duck friend. This offers Felix the chance to return the favor, and he equips the duck with an iron pipe so that when the farmer tries to cut off its head, he only blunts his axe.
Failing in this, the farmer tries to drown Felix. But the cat outwits the farmer when a school of fish comes to his rescue. Felix also remembers this good deed, and when the farmer goes fishing, the cat shows him how to avoid the hook and still catch the bait. Consequently, the farmer returns home empty-handed, furious.
