Felix The Cat Wiki

Art for Heart's Sake is a 1927 Felix the Cat short produced by Pat Sullivan.

Plot[]

Felix and his sweetheart Kitty are getting along splendidly out canoeing when a daring aviator tempts his girl. She flies up into the air with the aviator and leaves Felix deep in sorrow. The cat decides to make a reproduction of his light love on a rock, but a fat man sits down, taking the picture with him on the seat of his trousers.

He paints her image on a toy balloon, but it bursts. Seeking inspiration, Felix enters an art museum. There he sees, among other art treasures, the painting of "Pygmalion and Galatea," and reads the explanatory legend below the picture. He hopes that, like Pygmalion, if he falls at the foot of his clay creation, it will come to life.

In the meantime, Felix's first flame is seen "walking home" with the aid of a parachute. But suddenly her support collapses and she plunges through the roof, landing at the foot of the statue created by Felix. She realizes his aim and hopes. Consequently, she thrusts aside his statue and takes its place. Felix is overcome with joy at the happy reunion with his sweetheart.
